So what does one consider to be an irrational act? How about taking $2,500 from your federal tax refund and spending it on a dream?
I've gone and done something entirely impulsive by taking a wad of cash and slapping it down for a home musical recording studio. I ordered 10 fairly big-ticket items through Amazon and over the course of two weeks watched as they began to arrive at my doorstep.
I refused to open any package until they were all there, and once they were, laid it all out, all at once.
I've written music before. More than 15 years ago I did a similarly "stupid" thing by purchasing a new computer, a Tone Generator and the software used to compose music. I stuck with it for, perhaps, six months. I created some nifty orchestrations. And then I mothballed the entire set up.
This blog is a way to chronicle my newest adventure in music-making. I have no illusions about what will become of me once I've mastered the equipment. I'm not doing this for any other reason than to say that I can. Hopefully the music will be used. I don't know what for. I have no plans for it beyond learning how to do it at this point.
